Tripp Isenhour kills a protected hawk on purpose

Tripp Isenhour is well-liked among most golfers, but environmentalists don’t like him at all. While he was filming an instructional golf video, a red-shouldered hawk just wouldn’t shut up. So Tripp Isenhour started hitting golf balls at it until he finally hit and killed it.

The problem is, the red-shouldered hawk is a endangered, and therefore protected, species. Here’s what Isenhour said about the incident: “As soon as this happened, I was mortified and extremely upset and continue to be upset,” Isenhour said in a statement issued through his management company, SFX Golf. “I want to let everyone know there was neither any malice nor deliberate intent whatsoever to hit or harm the hawk. I was trying to simply scare it into flying away”. There’s a big problem with his story though.

The people who were there with him testified that he shot multiple shots at the red-shouldered hawk before hitting it. He even bragged, saying “I’ll get him this time”, so you can see how sincere his apology really was.

In the end, the judge slapped him with 40 hours of community service. He got off very easy considering the testimony against him. Maybe set him up as a target on the driving range for 40 hours. More.
